Humanity
in Trouble
Ananda Tara Shan, 19 August,
2002
In this letter, Ananda offers an explanation
for why many people feel unwell so often today and experience
deep distress.
The world is in trouble, for most, if not all, of humanity seems
to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. Not only do we have
difficulties from childhood, but many may even suffer from stress
related difficulties before they are born. Then there are difficulties
which increase year by year, for that is part of living. But on
top of these, we are now also suffering each other's many personal
crises, for over a number of years we have been entangled in other
people's lives via the media, this having caused many people much
pain and distress, which at times seems like an epidemic of sadness
and trauma, striking anyone in the world.
Dark messages, threats of war, dreaded daily information, killer
viruses, an asteroid perhaps to strike the Earth in 2019, children
being killed by classmates in schools, multiple sackings from hitherto
"safe" jobs, fires burning over great areas, tourists
being slain on holidays, kidnappings of ordinary citizens, senseless
treatment of refugees, an increase in interracial hatred campaigns,
road rage, and more, are building fears and angst in people all
over the world. People feel that their governments are acting over
their heads without any sense in their actions, police forces seem
out of control, hard drug imports and sales are seemingly unstoppable,
teachers are not managing to instil harmony in their classrooms,
parents and children are at loggerheads over both major and minor
issues. All this has created an apathetic attitude and is creating
effects in all of humanity as if we were living through a world
war with no immediate hope of any good solutions or good outcomes.
I know it is no news that humanity through nations and groups are
fighting each other, and that wars are erupting out of seemingly
nothing. Quarrels are instigated often from ignorance of facts,
but as the world becomes smaller, due to the effect of the media,
suffering and pain in the human family and personal crises are presented
to us in our homes, so that wherever we turn we are being informed
of impending war, present war, murders, imbalanced economic world
affairs, viruses that kill in an instant or over a short period,
tales of symptoms eating us up with no cures being available. Increasingly
we hear of drought destroying our crops, raging floods, tornadoes
and hurricanes appearing in places that never before have experienced
such climatic occurrences.
How a person manages the stress of living in this world without
early breakdowns or collapse is a miracle, one which can be discussed
endlessly but cannot be understood if the ageless wisdom is not
embraced, nor comprehended, for the answers to many questions relating
to our life are found there.
There has always been much poverty on Earth, unjust conditions
of living as well as legal injustices. There have always been class
differences and religious rage. There have always been national
hatred and a misunderstanding of traditions and values for different
people. But never before as now are we in our homes subjected to
a bombardment of conflicting issues, politicians quarrelling and
bickering, not enough leaders taking responsibility for the conditions
on Earth, in the environment, for unemployment, and for clearing
up messes from past years or ages. It is no wonder that more and
more people resort to alcohol, pills, cigarettes, and sex as comfort,
and that some people resort to meditation to relieve daily worries,
bodily disharmony, or simply just to get away.
There are more people than ever before living on Earth, and it
does not look as if educators of humanity understand that there
are subjects more important than mathematical languages and computers,
and that subjects like history, psychology, ageless wisdom, and
how we can improve relationships and how we can marry and stay married
should occur in ordinary schooling. If the situation as I perceive
it now continues for much longer, those who are taking on leadership
in the world will be too sick, too damaged, and unable to take on
responsible positions.
And who are we to blame but ourselves when we do not take action
to change what is seen as total chaos and confusion in all fields
of work. The light-workers who try to bring sense and balance to
the world are too few, and when they speak up, not many listen.
It is true that a great number of people study the ageless wisdom
and people know about healing and how to heal personality issues,
but mostly these people are theoreticians and not practical, and
without practicality, there can be no substantial change which will
better conditions for all.
Trillions of dollars are used in stepping up war or preparing for
war or making war, creating negative propaganda against people who
speak with justness and fairness to create a better world. It is
therefore high time for a spiritual revolution to take place, and
quickly, for we are running out of time - this we are told from
the inner worlds and from visiting extraterrestrial brothers and
sisters.
What, then, do I mean by spiritual revolution? I mean that every
person who knows better should act accordingly. Many do, but not
enough. If we had been half a billion people on Earth, it might
have been sufficient. But we are six billion people, who are not
getting the right education, some not getting any at all. The three
complexes of power, sex, and money are influencing so many people
on Earth in a negative way that the positive energy generated by
some is not sufficient to heal the world.
When you have read this letter, and if you respond to the information,
then please ponder on how you can step up your positive contribution
to change the world around.
